Janka

The play Janka has its final two performances on September 8 and 9, 2026, at Good Company Players' 2nd Space Theatre in Fresno's Tower District. Doors open at 7:00 PM with curtain at 7:30 PM both nights. The theatre is at 928 East Olive Avenue. Tickets are $50 for adults and $25 for students, sold through Submittable. A champagne reception follows each performance.

The Story Janka is the true story of Janka Festinger, of Sighet, Romania. It follows how she survived Auschwitz and slave labor, how she immigrated to America to start a new life, and how near the end of her life she finally tells her story. The production has toured internationally since 2002.

The Cast and Creators The role of Janka is performed by Janice Noga, Janka's daughter-in-law. The play was written by Oscar Speace, Janka's son, and directed by James Phillip Gates. It is a production of The Janka Project under the Fresno Arts Council.

Where the Money Goes Proceeds support Good Company Players' Junior Company and the Fresno Cultural Arts Rotary Club's Polio Plus campaign. These Fresno performances mark the closing of the show's touring run.
